Also called borlotti in Italian and "shell beans" in some regions, are high in nutritional value and can be used in a variety of dishes. The beans themselves are usually white or cream in color with deep red streaks and specks, which disappear as they cook. Cranberry Beans resemble pinto beans in texture and size.
These beans have a mild nutty flavor. As they cook they become more light-brown color.
